Kochi: A wild elephant and its young one was crashed to death by a speeding train
near Puduppathy at Chavadippara on the Walayar-Palakkad forest stretch early on Thursday.
The pachyderm and its calf were killed when the Mangaluru-Chennai Superfast Express hit them while they were crossing the railway track around 12.30 am on the Tamil Nadu side, the Hindu reported.
Both elephants got trapped under the locomotive leading to disruption of train services for long hours.
