Kochi: A Land Revenue Tahsildar was arrested red handed on Friday for accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a person for settling a fake dispute tailored by the official.Joseph Anthony of Kanayannur Taluk in Ernakulam was arrested by Department of Vigilance and Anti Corruption sleuths at Kadavanthra with two of his agents Kannan and Rajesh, On Manorama reported.More revenue officials are likely to be involved in the case.The arrested official demanded bribes for converting the wetland to Residential land even as it was originally a house plot for which the owner had been paying land tax.Allegations of corruption in the revenue department are rampant in Ernakulam where a large number of officials were transferred en masse from RDO Fort Kochi a few years back.Photo: Facebook
