Kochi: In a shocking move, President Donald Trump has suggested
US taking over Gaza to rebuild it economically and remove unexploded explosives.
Palestinian people could be resettled in other countries, he said while addressing a news conference.
Trump was flanked by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said Trump’s idea was “worth paying attention to”.
The Gaza Strip is surrounded by Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.
Hamas attacked Israel from Gaza, killing about 1,200 people and taking more than 250 hostages on 7 October 2023.
This led to an Israeli military offensive which claimed over 47,400 lives, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
