Kochi: Police have arrested two persons in connection with four members of Hindu family at Rangpur in Bangladesh.
Those arrested are Siddhartha Das (19) and Mugdha Das (23) in connection with the death of Ganapati Chakraborty,65, wife Pritilata, 50, daughter Agami, 23, and son Priyam,12, on Thursday.
According to police, the retired schoolteacher and three members of his family were murdered for confronting two neighbours, who allegedly tried to consume narconics on the roof of the victim’s house, India Today reported.
Police believe the two suspects remained inside the house overnight after the killings. They left a day later when the streets were relatively empty during Jummah (Friday) prayers.
They reportedly took a shower, ate dates and cucumbers from the refrigerator.
Then they consumed drugs, which were found on a table inside the house.
Siddharth was a businessman. Gold jewellery looted from the victims’ home has been recovered.
Their DNA is being tested using the date pits that have been seized from inside the house, as further details of the case are being investigate
