Mob create hurdle for NIA

Kochi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths sought police help to take away a Muslim cleric for interrogation in connection with alleged radicalisation of youths and getting funds at Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, media reports said
The NIA team was taking Mufti Khalid Nadvi for questioning after searching his house for eight hours in connection with online radicalisation of youth and allegedly receiving foreign funding when a large number of his supporters stopped NIA from taking him with them.
More supporters reached the spot in response to an announcement made from the local mosque to resist the NIA move.
Senior police rushed to the spot to help the NIA team arrest the Mufti and take him away.
The search was part of NIA raids across 26 locations in Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir.
The NIA had recently arrested a cleric in Delhi on charges of heading a radicalisation programme of banned Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
