Kochi: Israel has agreed to a 60-day ceasefire proposal in Gaza with “necessary conditions”, US President Donald Trump has said, BBC said.
“We will work with all parties to end the War”, Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring peace, will deliver this final proposal,” he said.
Israel is targeting Gaza after October 7, 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas in which around 1,200 people were killed. At least 56,647 have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.
Hamas has not reacted to the proposal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet Trump next week.
The US president said on Tuesday that he believed Netanyahu wanted to end hostilities in Gaza.
Israel has said the conflict can only end only after the dismantling of Hamas has long said that a permanent truce will happen after complete withdrawal of Israel from Gaza.
Around 50 Israeli hostages are still in Gaza, at least 20 of whom are believed to be alive.
Meanwhile, Israel has ordered an evacuation from northern Gaza ahead of increased military action.
At least 20 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike on a seafront cafe in Gaza City on Monday.
