Kochi: Rapper Vedan, 31, secured an anticipatory bail from Kerala High Court in rape case filed by a young doctor Wednesday, Manorama reported. Delivering the bail to Hiran Das Murali, (alias) Vedan, the court observed that the registration of a new crime against the rapper or the possibility of another crime being registered cannot be a consideration in the current case.
The court directed Vedan to appear before the investigation officer on September 9. The complainant had accused Vedan of engaging in physical relationship after promising to marry her. Vedan had gone underground after the doctor made the allegations. She also accused Vedan of behaving with other young women in the same manner.
She claimed that Vedan had promised to marry her following which they engaged in a physical relationship. Vedan claimed that the complainant was his fan and had developed a consensual physical relationship. He claimed that the complaint was filed by her because of some differences of opinion between them, the reports said.
The High Court had granted him bail for allegedly possessing a leopard tooth. The police are probing another case of alleged sexual abuse by Vedan. The police have been given direction to register a case against the Rapper if there is proof against him.
