Kochi: In a bid to provide a legal validity to permanent proof of residency, Kerala cabinet has given the nod to introduce a permanent, photo-based Nativity Card, media reports said.
The bill in this regard will be introduced in the current session of the assembly.
The card, which will help in accessing state services and simplify citizenship verification, is expected to dispel fear in the minority after the SIR was introduced.
The card will replace the traditional, temporary nativity certificate needed to prove long-term residency and birth in Kerala. It will be a permanent document prepared by the Revenue Department to ensure it acts as an authentic, legally backed identity document.
