Kochi: The Supreme Court quashed the appointment of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University Vice Chancellor Dr M S Rajashree.
The verdict came in response to a petition filed by former Dean of the Engineering Faculty P S Sreejith challenging the Kerala High Court judgment upholding the appointment.
Sreejit, whose application for the VC’s post was not considered, claimed that the appointment was violative of the University Grants Commission norms.
The petition pointed out that the Search Committee failed to recommend a panel of three names for the post as per UGC norms.
Meanwhile, BJP Kerala Chief K Surendran said that the verdict was a blow to the LDF government in Kerala.
The verdict would become a benchmark in the appointments made in other universities including Kannur University.
He said the Left government was working to bring higher education under the control of leftist forces. it was due to this the government is intolerant towards Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan for questioning the actions of the government.
