Kochi: UDF candidate Uma Thomas won the Thrikkakara Assembly seat helping the UDF retain the seat which was last won by her late husband P T Thomas.
Uma posted glorious victory defeating her LDF rival Dr Jo Joseph by 25,016 votes.
She polled 72,770 against 47,754 received by Dr Jo Joseph.
BJP candidate A N Radhakrishnan got 12,957 votes. Late P T Thomas had polled 59,839 votes against his LDF rival Dr Jacob who got 45,510 votes. The margin of victory of P T Thomas in 2021 was 14,329 votes.
Interestingly, the LDF bettered its polling by over 2,000 votes this time. BJP on the other hand trailed from 15,957 polled in 2021 to 12,957 votes.
