Uma’s befitting tributes to husband

Kochi: Congress candidate Uma Thomas pays a befitting tribute to her beloved husband late P T Thomas by staging an outstanding performance in the Thrikkakara Assembly by election today.
She has established an unassailable lead against her rival Dr Jo Joseph, of CPM.
Uma remained gracious throughout her campaign without getting carried away by smear campaigns against her.
She has shattered the arrogant claim of the LDF that it would win the election to increase its tally to 100.
The exit of former Congress leader K V Thomas from Congress to CPM added to the firepower of the Congress which gained for  taking strong decisions against bullying tactics of the former Union Minister Thomas and factionalism of different groups.
Migration of a local Congress leader M B Muraleedharan to CPM did not have any impact on voters.
Ruling LDF was worried from the beginning as it had changed its candidate Anil Kumar fearing draining of minority votes.
The Chief Minister camped in the region for campaigning as the image of the government was sagging due to various factors like
K-Rail, the actor assault case, and financial mismanagement among others.
The Congress’ performance has also proved the people’s confidence in the new state Congress leadership of K Sudhakaran and V D Satheeshan.
The Aam Aadmi Party and Twenty20 keeping off the polls helped Uma to increase her vote percentage.
Kunnathunad CPM MLA Sreenijan’s controversial remarks against Sabu Jacob of twenty20 caused huge damage to the LDF.
Uma is marching ahead setting a new record in the constituency which came into being in 2011. Since then Benny Behanan won it once  and P T Thomas twice.
