Anupama’s baby was handed over to CWC with her consent, says Ajith’s former wife

Kochi: In a sudden turn of events, a witness has come forward disputing left activist Anupama S Chandran claim that her newborn baby was taken away by her father without her knowledge.

The person who claims to be the witness is the first wife of Anupama’s partner Ajith.

Anupama and Ajith today conducted a sit-in protest in front of the Secretariat on Saturday demanding the state government and its authorities concerned to trace and return her one-year-old baby boy fathered by Ajith.

Ajith’s former wife told media persons in Thiruvananthapuram that she had seen Anupama giving her consent to her father to separate the child from her. She has accused Anupama of spoiling her marriage by persuading Ajith to divorce her.

The witness said she had seen the content of the consent letter. The witness said she had faced a lot of torture as she was facing separation from her husband. She said she went to Anupama’s house pleading with her to free her husband.

The witness said Ajith had said that he had treated Anupama as his sister. She said she had married Ajith in 2011 and was divorced in January 2021.

The former wife accused Ajith of deserting her and asking her kin to take her away from Ajith’s house even before the divorce. Ajith is living with Anupama after the divorce and the two are trying to get back their son who according to Anupama was taken away by her father clandestinely.

The couple has lodged complaints with the police, Chief Minister, CPM office, different ministries among others. Ajith, Anupama, her father Jayachandran are all CPM workers.
