Kochi: Journalist turned actor, T P Madhavan, 88, passed away at a hospital in Kollam on Wednesday morning, media reports said.
Madhavan was undergoing treatment in the hospital where he breathed his last.
Madhavan was living in an isolated condition in a lodge in Thiruvananthapuram. It was a few of his associates who shifted him to Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram in Kollam.
Madhavan has portrayed different roles in over 600 films which will be long cherished by film lovers.
He made debut in films through “Raagam” released in 1975. Starting as a villain, Madhavan shifted to comedy and character roles.
Kalikalam, Nadodikattu, vietnam colony, sandesham, lelam, ayaal katha ezhuthukayayirunnu, narasimham, pappayude swantham appus, ananthabhadram are some of his popular films. His role in “Pulival Kalyanam” added value to the film. He was the first general secretary of actors’ outfit Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) which was dissolved recently.
