Rahul Gandhi’s plea rejected

Kochi: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday dismissed Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking to quash the summons issued to him in 2019 for allegedly in a defamatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A single bench of the court rejected Rahul’s challenging the ruling of a magistrate court’s order.
The High Court repeated its order of 2021 directing the magistrate to defer hearing on the complaint for six weeks to allow Gandhi to file appeal before the Supreme Court, the Hindu reported.
The court did not find any “perversity and illegality” in the magistrate’s order and hence no reason to interfere. Gandhi had challenged a Girgaum magistrate’s order of August 28, 2019, for a process against him on a complaint filed by one Shrishrimal.
