Kochi: In a swift move, the Directorate of Enforcement has summoned former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to appear before it on October 23 for questioning in connection with cases including CMRL-Exalogic bribery case, media reports said.
Vijayan, 81, has been asked to appear at the ED office in Kochi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after state police registered an FIR in the matter on the basis of evidence provided by ED, the New Indian Express reported.
The development comes on the day Vijayan moved the Supreme Court challenging a Kerala High Court order directing the registration of an FIR against him and his family members in the alleged bribery case.
Pinarayi, daughter and her husband moved the Supreme Court after the Kerala High dismissed their applications seeking permission to appeal against a single-judge order directing the registration of an FIR in the case based on ED’s findings.
