Kochi: Ignoring China’s warning, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reached Taiwan on Tuesday.
The Chinese President had warned the US to keep off the region. Xi Jinping had last week warned the US President Joe Biden not to meddle with Taiwan which China claims to be its province where no others have any right to interfere, Chinese felt.
There are reports of Chinese warplanes flying inside China.
Meanwhile, Taiwan has made heavy security arrangements for Pelosi’s visit.
Pelosi is the senior most leader from the US visiting Taiwan for 25 years.
After arriving in Taiwan, she said her visit was part of her Asia visit. US solidarity with 23 million Taiwanese is more important, she said.
