Kochi: Investigating agency, ED has quizzed actor Navya Nair in connection with getting jewellery from suspended customs officer Sachin Sawant booked under money laundering case, media reports said.
The ED, which has filed a chargesheet in the case, has claimed that Sawant had contacted her on a number of times, the reports said.
The ED claimed that it had with it electronic data to prove Sawant exchanging communications with her, the reports said.
On the other hand, the actress’ relatives have claimed that they were only friends, the reports said.
Media reports quoting her family said that the jewellery was presented to her son. They said that they used to help him during his visit to Sree Krishna temple in Guruvayoor during his visits to Kerala.
The CBI had filed an FIR against Sawant who was arrested by the ED in June, 2022, on charges of alleged possession of disproportionate assets with over Rs 2.4 crore. Sawant was Additional Commissioner of Customs and had served as Deputy Director for the ED in Mumbai.
