Kochi: Host England posted a spectacular victory thrashing India by seven wickets at Edgbaston today.
England had won the toss and decided to bowl.
Batting first, India made 416 in the first innings powered by 146 made by Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s 104.
For England, Anderson took 5 for 60.
England fared badly in the first innings and could make only 284 runs. It was Bairstow’s 106 which helped it to make a respectable total.
Bumrah took 3 for 68 and Shami 2 for 78.
In the second innings India’s batting collapsed to 245 despite Pujara ‘s 66 and Pant ‘s 57.
On the contrary, England played meticulously in the second innings with Bairstow making another century of 114 not out and J Roots 142 not out.
Indian bowlers failed to trouble the hosts in the second innings and only Bumrah could take 3 for 68.
