Union Minister seeks action against Jaleel

Kochi: Former LDF Minister K T Jaleel, MLA, has said that his facebook post on Kashmir has been misinterpreted even as Union Minister Prahlad Joshi demanded the Left government to act against him.

Taking strong objection to Jaleel’s controversial remarks on Kashmir, Joshi said “they are against the country’s interests”, media reports said.

With his post getting controversial, Jaleel published another post saying that his remarks were put within double inverted commas and he was sympathetic towards

those who could not get the real meaning of it.

BJP had demanded booking Jaleel under sedition charges.

Jaleel had first landed in controversy after he requested the UAE ruler to ban a Malayalam daily in that region for publishing a report on the death of corona-infected Indians in UAE.

This allegation was raised by a diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh alleging that Jaleel had violated protocol while a minister by directly communicating with the UAE consul general in Kerala.

Jaleel was also questioned in connection with illegal import of dates and Islamic religious texts through diplomatic channels mailed to UAE consulate. NIA had recorded his statement in the diplomatic baggage Gold smuggling case and made him a witness in the case.
