Kerala Guv to probe past appointments

Kochi: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan today said that he would order a comprehensive probe into the appointments in universities in Kerala in the last three years.

The probe is to bring out the political conspiracy happening to appoint relatives of party leaders damaging the quality of university education, Khan said.

He said that he had got some complaints regarding appointments a few days back.
The Governor said that he would not allow misuse of universities to get jobs for the relatives of the ruling party, he said.

The State had very high quality school education and those passing out wanted to go out of the country, he said.

Referring to the appointment of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s personal secretary K K Ragesh’s wife Priya Varghese in Kannur University despite scoring very poor marks, he said that Priya was not qualified for the post.

He said Kannur University Vice Chancellor Gopinath Raveendran had erred in the appointment of Priya and that he was behaving like a CPM cadre, Khan said.
