He was suspended four times during the fag end of his service. He is still denied his due pension
It was the bureaucracy that had conspired against him and not any political party, Jacob Thomas said.
Kochi: In a big blow to Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Government, the Kerala High Court’s single bench has quashed the charges made against former DGP Jacob Thomas in the alleged dredger graft case. Jacob Thomas said the verdict shows that truth prevails.
Speaking to a news website, Jacob said that the verdict proves that the charge was fake. It was the bureaucracy that had conspired against him and not any political party, he said.
The verdict is a victory against corruption. He said that same thing was happening with Mumbai NCB director Sameer Wankhede who is being hunted for doing his duty sincerely. His family is being targeted. The charge against Thomas was that he had brought huge loss to the exchequer by manipulating the tender while he was ports director 2009-14. A vigilance probe was ordered.
In 2014 the vigilance gave him a clean chit when he was Vigilance chief. It was for this reason a case was registered against him.
Thomas turned against the government and criticised the government actions. He also wrote a book allegedly without getting government permission inviting the wrath of the government. He was suspended four times during the fag end of his service. He is still denied his due pension, the reports said.
