India’s T-20 Debacle: Trashed by Pakistan, New Zealand favourites India shunted out of ICC World Cup

It has been the worst show of the national men’s cricket team in an ICC tournament in the recent past. In 2007, Indian team led by Rahul Dravid had crashed out in the first round of the ICC World Cup held in West Indies.

Kochi:  Done and dusted by both Pakistan and New Zealand in the first and second matches, Indian team crashed out of the ICC T-20 World Cup Tournament being held in UAE.

While Pakistan thrashed India for 10 wickets in their first match, in the second match held in Dubai today, the men in blue suffered yet another massive defeat at the hands of Kiwis.

With this, India’s scope of entering the semi-finals has almost ended unless a miracle happens in the tournament.

New Zealand won the toss and sent India to bat. With none of the batsmen firing, India could score only 110 in the stipulated 20 overs by losing seven wickets. New Zealand batsmen wrapped up the game in just 14.3 overs, with the loss of just two wickets.

India started pathetically as the new opening combination of K L Rahul and Ishan Kishan failed to deliver. Rahul made 18 runs and Rohit, who came in at one down, could score only 14, Pandya made 23 and while Jadeja remained unbeaten with 26 runs.

New Zealand began in a confident manner. Guptil’s wicket fell at 20 while D Mitchell made 49. Skipper K Williamson remained unbeaten with 33. Bumrah claimed two wickets.
