Kochi: Kerala has expressed shocked over losing Mangaluru Railway Region to Karnataka with Chief Minister V D Satheesan flaying the Railway Board. Mangaluru Region come under the control of Mysuru division of South Western Railway bidding adieu to Palakkad division under Southern Railway. Satheesan alleged that the decision was taken without informing Kerala government.The authority to decide the schedules of trains originating from Mangaluru, including those to Thiruvananthapuram, would now rest with the Mysuru division. Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan said the Chief’ Minister and the state government should take more effective steps in the matter.
Mangaluru Railway Region to South Western Railway’s (SWR) Mysuru Division from Southern Railway’s (SR) Palakkad Division. Thus, the demand for the Mangaluru region’s inclusion in SWR ever since SWR’s formation in 2003 has been met.Railway Board Executive Director (Efficiency and Research) Dinesh Kumar Vashishtha said the competent authority had decided to transfer the Mangaluru area up to Ullal (inclusive) from the Palakkad Division to the Mysuru Division with effect from October 1.
