Kochi: CPI Kerala Chief Binoy Viswam on Saturday protested against Kerala Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vjayan’s remarks rejecting Deputy Opposition Leader post to CPI.
Talking to reporters, Viswam said it showed Pinarayi Vijayan’s political immaturity.
Viswam said Pinarayi’s stand was not fit to the stature of the position he was holding.
Viswam said it is high time to end the policy that all positions should go to a single party.
Viswam said there is no compromise on the issue even as it is known that the post of Deputy Leader of Opposition is not so important.
The party is not after facilities offered to the post.
Viswam said CPI is a party which had sacrificed the post of Chief Minister decades back.
Earlier, to reporters in Thrissur, Pinarayi asserted that the post of Deputy Leader of Opposition is for CPM which will not have any more discussions with its long-term ally CPI on the issue.
The responsibility to inform the speaker about nominating the Deputy Leader of Opposition is that of Leader of Opposition, Pinarayi Vijayan said.
The official letter in this regard will be handed over to the Speaker soon, he said.
Former Finance Minister K N Balagopal of CPM is the likely nominee of CPM for the post.
