Kochi: Four girl students of school were killed when a cement bags laden lorry overturned on them at Kalladikode in Palakkad in Kerala today, media reports said.
The lorry, which was going towards Mannarkkad, lost control and overturned.
The victims, who were eight standard students of Karimba Higher Secondary School, were returning home after their exams when the accident occured.
The deceased were identified as Irfana, Mitha, Rida, and Ayesha.
The driver and cleaner escaped with minor injuries.
The accident triggered protests by people for reckless driving by vehicles and poor policing.
Several accidents have happened here claiming atleast 55 lives since 2020.
