Kochi: Host India created history by lifting the T20 World Cup three times and making the highest total of 255 losing 5 wickets beating New Zealand by 96 runs in the finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium at Ahmedabad on Sunday.
India won for first time in 2007 led by M S Dhoni, in 2024 by Rohit Sharma and in 2026 under the captaincy of Surya Kumar Yadav.
Winning the toss, New Zealand sent to bat India who started on a bright note with openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson hitting hard before Abhishek falling to a lovely delivery.
Sanju made his third half century in the tournament. Samson 89 Ishan Kishan 54

J Neesham took 3 wickets while Raveendra and Henry took one each.
Chasing the winning target, New Zealand were out for 159.
