Night curfew back for few days

Kochi: Night curfew is back in force in Kerala from December 30 to January 2 in view of increase in Omicron cases in the state.

The travel restrictions would begin from 10 pm to 5 am, a meeting presided by the Chief Minister at Thiruvananthapuram resolved.

There would be no relaxation in restrictions during December 31 when people get together at different places to celebrate New year.

Bars, clubs, hotels, restaurants, food joints could operate with 50 per cent of the total capacity.

The collectors of coastal districts with beaches, shopping malls and similar places where people are likely to gather in large numbers have been asked to check gatherings with the help of sectoral magistrates and police.

The Chief Minister directed the authorities to conduct more genetic sequencing in places like Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi where  Omicron cases are increasing.

The Chief Minister directed to intensify counter measures against corona in the state.

The collectors explained steps taken to fight corona in their districts.
