Japan to invest 42 bn dollar

Kochi: Japan will invest 42 billion dollars in the next five years in India, Japanese premier Fumio Kishida said.

He said this after holding a wide range of discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

Discussions included issues related to boosting bilateral economic and cultural ties.

They jointly addressed 14 annual Indo-Japan summit.
They signed six agreements on issues including cyber security, capacity building, information sharing and cooperation, media reports said.

Modi said progress, prosperity, partnership are the hallmarks of India-Japan ties, media reports said.

Delhi is committed to providing all support to Japanese companies, he said.

“There has been progress in the economic partnership between India and Japan. Japan is one of the largest investors in India. The countries are working as ‘One team-One project’ on Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor,” Modi said.

Japan is currently supporting India’s urban infrastructure development as well as a high-speed railway based on Japan’s shinkansen bullet train technology.
