Kochi: Nine members of a family, including six children, died when the vehicle in which they were travelling plunged into a well in Dindori, around 25 km from Nashik on late Friday, media reports said.
The victims were returning home in a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) after attending a coaching class get-together in the town.
According to police reports, the driver could have failed to spot the well in the darkness.
The vehicle veered off the path and fell directly into the deep well, trapping all occupants inside.
Police inspector Bhagwan Mathure of the Dindori Police Station stated that as soon as they were alerted, a rescue team rushed to the spot.
