Kochi: St Ephrem’s Higher Secondary School, Mannanam, boys and Providence GHSS, Kozhikode, girls lifted the Karikkampallil K T Mathai Memorial inter school Basketball Trophy at P O Phillip Memorial Indoor Basketball Complex Alappuzha.
St Ephrems dominated from the beginning to thrash St Joseph’s HSS, Pulinkunnu 73-36. Vinay Sankar and Jeevan K Joby scored 15 points each. Providence GHSS, Kozhikode, outplayed Little Flower Convent HSS, Koratty, 81-31 in the finals. Providence led 46-22 at halftime.
Arthika with 31 points was the top scorer for the victorious team. Devangana with 28 points was second. The event kicked off the beginning P S Viswappan Trophy Basketball Tournament coinciding with the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of YMCA unit.
Johns Umbrella sponsored the event. Its Managing Director Dr Abraham Tayil presented trophies and medals to the winners.
