Suspicious deals in name of Messi’s visit

Kochi: Major financial irregularities in the name of bringing legendary football player Messi to Kerala have been unearthed by the GST department.
The GST department has unearthed the sponsors amassing huge funds in the name of bringing noted footballers led by the Argentine player to land where countless football lovers were waiting to have a glimpse of the player.
A total of Rs 206 crore came to the sponsor’s account.There are no records for the huge loan or tax paid, Asianet news reported.
The GST department has sought a probe by central agencies. The GST department has found that the sponsor has amassed the amount from two financial organisations. The amount received by the sponsor was transferred immediately.
The GST is planning to demand a probe by central agencies for violations of FEMA rules.
