Taximen harass Tourist in Munnar

Kochi: An academic from Mumbai has flayed Kerala Police and militant Taxi Unions for harassing her for using online taxi during her visit to Munnar, Manorama News reported.
Taking to social media, Janvi announced her resolve to never visit the place again.
She expressed shock over the police siding with the trade union members operating taxi service in the hill station, making a blot on the tourism industry of the state which is described as God’s own country.
When Jhanvi and her acquaintances reached Munnar in an online taxi after visiting Kochi and Alappuzha, the local taxi operators seized them saying that there is a court order preventing online taxi operations in Munnar. Following which she alerted the police who too spoke in favour of local taxi operators.
After being forced to take a local taxi, she and her team abandoned the trip and returned to Mumbai.
The police have registered a case against taxi operators after the matter came up for discussion in social media.
The matter has adversely impacted the Home Ministry headed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Tourism Ministry led by his daughter’s husband Mohammed Rias.
