Kochi: In a shocking incident, a golden pedestal that went missing from Sabarimala temple in Kerala was traced at the house of a person related to the sponsor Unnikrishnan Potty who had donated it to the temple, Asianet reported.
The pedestal which was sent to the temple to replace another worn out one was not installed due to mismatch in measurements in 2021.
Ironically, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) which manages the temple has not made an entry in its books about receiving pedestals in 2021.
Anything donated to the temple is entered in the stock book which has no entry of receiving the one sent by Potty.
The question being asked now is how the pedestal went out of the temple without the knowledge of the TDB and why it was not entered in the stock book when the pedestal was brought in 2021.
The pedestal, which was supposed to be in the strong room of the TDB in Aranmula, was found by the Vigilance Department of the TDB on Sunday.
The Vigilance probe was ordered by the Kerala High Court after the Unnikrishnan Potty himself informed about the missing of the pedestal.
The Vigilance will file a report in this regard before the Kerala High Court on Monday.
