Kochi: Wanted terrorists, Abu Bakr Siddique, 60, and Mohammed Ali were
nabbed by Tamil Nadu police from Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, media reports said.
Allegedly linked to Al Umma, AL Qaeda’s Base Movement, Siddique carried a prize of Rs 5 lakh.
Going underground for over 30 years, Siddique was the mastermind behind a number of bomb blasts in South India.
Mohammed Ali was on the run for 26 years.
He was nabbed by the anti terrorist unit of Tamil Nadu police from a hideout in Andhra Pradesh.
Siddiqi, who was evading arrest since 1995, was involved in recruiting terrorists for Al Umma and other Islamic terror outfits.
He is an accused in a number of cases including the 1999 Bengaluru blast case, blast during Rath yatra of BJP leader L K Advani in Madurai in 2011, Hindu Munnani office blast in 1991, Nagore parcel bomb blast, terror attacks in seven places including Chennai, Tiruchirappalli , Coimbatore, Kerala in 1998.
He is accused of Chennai Egmore police Commissioner office blast, murder of Aravind Reddy in Vellore in 2012, blast in Malleswaram BJP office in Bengaluru in 2013
Native of Nagre, Siddique and Mohammed Ali of Tirunelveli were reportedly interrogated at the NIA office in Chennai.
