Kochi: The much awaited 5 G services is expected to be launched on October 12, Union Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said today.
The facility will reach across the country in two to three years, he told reporters in New Delhi.
The service would be available in urban as well as rural areas at an affordable price, he said. The very low latency of the service makes it ten times faster than 4G.
Reliance Jio, Adani Data Networking, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are the four major service providers who have taken part in the auctioning.
Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Jamnagar, Pune and New Delhi are the 13 cities which will get priority in getting the service.
In the biggest ever auction of spectrum telecom spectrum got a record Rs 1.5 lakh crore. Jio has a lion share of Rs 87,946.93 crore.
