Kochi: Twenty-year-old actor and model Shahana was found dead on her birthday eve in a rented flat in Chevayur in Kozhikode.
Her husband Sajjaad has been detained by the police.
She was cheerful when she talked to her family over the phone yesterday evening, media reports said.
She was found hanging on the steel railings of the window on Thursday, the reports said.
Shahnas mother claimed that there was no need for her to commit suicide and it was a case of murder.
She said that they came to know about the death through Shahna’s neighbors.
Shahana and Sajaad got married about one and half years back.
Sajad, who was working in Qatar, decided to stay back as Shahna became active in modeling and started making money though
a Tamil film and a number of ad films. All the money earned by Shana was spent by her husband, her mother claimed.
There are reports of Sajaad’s family harassing her for dowry. She had informed this to her parents.
