Kochi: A possible unprecedented incident was witnessed in Kerala assembly when state Governor Arif Muhammad Khan wound up his address on the opening day of the budget session in about one minute on Thursday.
Greeting the members, the Governor said that he would read out the last paragraph of the Left government’s policy statement in one minute, jolting the Left government in Kerala.
Within minutes the Governor left the House. The Chief Minister and others saw him off at the exit point.
Earlier, the Governor was received by the Chief Minister with a bouquet which Khan accepted without exchanging customary exchanges.
Khan didn’t even look at Pinarayi’s face while entering the house which will be in session until March 27.
The Governor, appointed by the BJP government, and the Left government are at loggerheads on different issues including appointments made in the Universities by the government.
The state government had moved Supreme Court against the Governor sitting on the bills passed by the government.
