Kochi: Atleast 15 were killed in attacks on cops, churches and synagogues in Derbent and Makhachkala during a festival in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, media reports said.
Police officers, a priest and a security guard were those who lost their lives while six assailants were killed on Sunday, the report said.
Dagestan has witnessed attacks by Islamic radicals. Two churches and two synagogues were targeted. Assailants wearing dark outfits were found shooting at police cars in video footage.

Even as the radical outfits have owned up responsibility for the attacks, Russia has blamed Ukraine.
Three months ago Russia’s domestic security service, the FSB, had thwarted an IS plot to attack a Moscow synagogue.
