Kochi: The President Donald Trump claimed the US has “totally obliterated” every military target on Iran’s Kharg Island, but sparing the oil infrastructure, BBC reported.
Kharg Island is a tiny but strategic terminal in the northern Gulf.
BBC’s partner CBS news quoted two officials that the US is expected to send a marine unit and more warships to the Middle East.
The unit, which can carry out amphibious raids, is typically made up of up to 5,000 Marines and sailors across several warships
Washington is considering an expanded range of options in its war on Iran, it reported.

Meanwhile, the United States has announced a reward of up to $10 million for those giving inputs about Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and senior Iranian military and intelligence officials, media reports said.
The reward targets 10 officials associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the reports quoted the State Department website.
IRGC, which was created after Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, is loyal to the supreme leader and tasked with protecting the Shi’ite clerical establishment.
The US suspects Mojtaba Khamenei suffered injuries in the strikes. He succeeded his father, Ali Khamenei who was killed in joint U.S. and Israeli strikes that began on February 28.
The Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen publicly after his father assassination even as he released his first statement on Thursday.
In addition to the supreme leader, the U.S. is seeking information about Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani, Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and two officials in Khamenei’s office.
