ECI declares Assembly polls

Kochi: The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Union Territory of Puducherry. Election will be held in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry on April 9. Tamil Nadu goes to polling booths on April 23 while West Bengal will have polls for two days on April 23 and 20.
The results will be declared on May 4, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said addressing a press conference in New Delhi.

He stated that “no eligible elector should be left out and no ineligible voter should be included.”
Voting will be held at 2.19 lakh polling stations across Bengal.

Over 25 lakh election officials will be assigned for poll duty.
He said around 17.4 crore voters will cast their votes across West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.
