Kochi: A fire ignited near Kadavumbhagam Synagogue by Ebin B Paul, 32, of Puthencruz has sent state police and Central intelligence agencies on high alert.
The police are probing the accused activities which appeared to be suspicious as he had been communicating with an unidentified handler and making references of other potential targets, Asianet news reported.
Ebin arrived near the synagogue on Market Road and set fire in front of the premises after sprinkling petrol.
He recorded the fire on his mobile phone before escaping in his car, according to the police.
Ebin was traced at his rented house in Puthencruz.
His mobile phone contained videos of the arson and communications with individuals and online groups suspected to have foreign links. NIA, IB and state police are questioning him. Police is also examining his mental condition.
