This year, Modi celebrates Diwali at Nowshera on line of control in Kashmir

Kochi: Prime Minister interacted with army men in Kashmir on the day of Diwali on Thursday.

Addressing the army on the line of control at Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir Modi said Pakistan had made numerous attempts to disturb peace in Kashmir. They were still continuing it. But all their attempts were being dealt with strongly, the reports said.

PM also said that he celebrates Diwali because he considers Indian Army as his family.

Modi said the doors of armed forces have been opened for women. He said that working in the armed forces should not be considered as a job but as a service to the nation. He said the country is focusing on indigenisation with a view to speed up arms supplies at short notice.

He told them that he was with them not as the Prime Minister but as a family member. He said he had brought with him the best blessings of all the 1.3 crore Indians on the day of Diwali to the army.

Modi offered tributes to the army personnel who had laid down their lives fighting for the country. Modi had spent Diwali with army men on a number of occasions. He had been doing it since he became the chief minister of Gujarat. Earlier, Army chief M M Narvane visited Jammu and Kashmir to oversee security arrangements ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
