At last, a win for India in T20 World Cup

The team posted the highest total yet in the tournament by scoring 210 runs by losing just two wickets

Kochi: Men in blue clinched their first win in ICC T20 against Afghanistan. Indian batsmen were on song unlike in the first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. The team posted the highest total yet in the tournament by scoring 210 runs by losing just two wickets.

Spinner Ravichandra Aswin, who came back to the T20 team after a gap of four years, made his presence felt with tight bowling and claimed two wickets. Mohammad Shami got 3 for 39 while Ashwin made things tough for the spirited Afghans by conceding only 14 runs. Rohit Sharma was chosen man of the match. He made 74.

Rohit along with K L Rahul 69 laid a strong foundation while Hardik Pandya made a quick 35 and Pant 27.

In reply, Afghanistan could make only 144 for 7 wickets. India has chances in the tournament only if New Zealand losses to either Afganisthan or Namibia, which is very unlikely to happen.
