Kochi: A 22-year-old person who died in a private hospital in Thrissur on Saturday was infected with Monkeypox virus, Lab reports said.
Fifteen people have been identified in the primary contact list. These include his friends, relatives and health workers.
A high-level inquiry has been ordered into it.
First the swab was examined at Alappuzha Virology and Pune Virology lab where it was confirmed that the patient was infected with monkeypox virus, media reports said.
It was reported that the patient was tested positive in UAE from where he had come to his native place and lived with his family at Kurinjiyoor in Chavakkad.
The results from UAE were not disclosed by his family to the hospital authorities.
He got admitted on July 27 following fatigue and fever.
