Kochi: A total of 1,200 gifts received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be sold to the public through e-auction in connection with his 72nd birthday, media reports said.
The Ministry of Culture began the auction
through web portal http://pmmementos.gov.in on Saturday and will conclude on October 2, the reports said.
A statue of Lord Ganesha, a trident, models of Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and the Kashi-Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi are part of the articles up for sale, it said
The articles including a graphite miniature of Mahatma Gandhi, exquisite paintings, folk artefacts, sculptures, handicrafts and sports memorabilia will be auctioned at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Delhi.
The bidding price is between Rs 100 to Rs 10 lakhs. Fifteen items have the highest bidding price of above 5 lakhs.
The cumulative base price of all objects is Rs 2.7 crore. The funds generated through the auction will be used for conserving rejuvenating Ganga under the Namami Gange Programme.
The auction of these gift items will be the fourth of the series of successful auctions, first launched in January 2019.
A total of Rs 15.7 crore was raised during the
Iast auction held between September 17 to October 7, 2021.
