Kochi: A 28 year old NRI groom, Sabir Sheikh, was among those booked in connection with the marriage of a 16-year-old minor at Thrikarippur in Kasaragod in Kerala, Asianet News reported.
The girl’s father, Adachakai Juma Masjid secretary, Padana panchayat member P K Thajudèen, the cleric who solemnized the marriage Ustad Rahmatullah were the others booked for the crime.
The marriage was held at Aheekaal Juma Masjid on April 13.
The boy was employed in South Korea. The matter came to the of Childline which carried out a probe by child marriage preventive officer who found the marriage illegal.
The matter came before Hosdurg Judicial Magistrate Court which ordered Chathera police to file an FIR.
