Kochi: Farmaan Khan has been booked Farmaan Khan the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly marrying an underaged Kumbh Mela fame Monalisa Bhosle, media reports said.
The Madhya Pradesh police have registered the case against Khan for
allegedly marrying the minor.
According to Madhya Pradesh police, Monalisa was only 16 years old when Khan married her.
The case was registered on the basis of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) report that confirmed she was a minor.
The NCST has directed the DGPs, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh to appear before the Commission in New Delhi on April 22.
The couple married at Aruvamoodu Temple in Kerala on March 11, 2026 following which the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) lodged a complaint with the Kerala police chief disputing her age claiming that she was born on January 21, 2009.
A birth certificate issued by the Nagar Panchayat in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, recorded her date of birth as January 1, 2008.
The Kerala High Court had on March 23, 2026 granted the couple interim security
after Monalisa accused her father Vijay Singh Bhosle, of pressuring her to marry a man of his choice.
Her father Vijay Singh Bhosle had lodged a complaint accusing Khan of abducting her.
The couple approached Kerala police seeking protection from Vijay Singh Bhosle who according to wanted her to marry a man of his choice.
Kerala police gave the couple a clean chit stated that she was 18 years old and could marry anyone of her choice.
Monalisa came to limelight for viral videos of selling garlands and bangles during Maha Kumbh Mela.
