HC rejects Dileep’s plea

Kochi: In a major blow to actor Dileep, Kerala High Court has allowed the crime branch to conduct further investigation into the actor assault case of 2017.

Passing the judgment, the court said that it is the investigation team has the right to conduct further investigation and the court cannot intervene in the matter.

However, the court directed the crime branch to complete the probe April 15 even as the prosecution had sought three months’ time.

Dileep had contended that the case was in the final phase and the move to conduct further trial was illegal and part of a conspiracy.

The case pertains to abuse of the actor after her abduction in a moving vehicle on February 17, 2017.

The prime accused Pulsar Suni is in jail. Dileep was arrested and put in jail for 85 days.

Meanwhile, the investigation team has informed the court that actor Dileep had destroyed evidences pertaining to harming police officials who had probed the actor assault case.

Phones used by Dileep and others were couriered by Dileep’s lawyers to a private lab in Mumbai where the crucial data was destroyed.

However, the police have retrieved most of the data and seized a hard disc containing cloned data from the lab. The lab chief and workers were questioned by the police.
