Kochi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the GSLV-F12/NVS-01 mission from Sriharikota, media reports said.
The vehicle carrying the 2,232 kg NVS-01 navigation satellite took off at 10.42 am to place the payload into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit, the reports said.
Later, orbit raising maneuvers will be carried out to take the satellite to the intended orbit. The payloads include L1, L5 and S bands and it is for the first time, an indigenous atomic clock was flown in NVS-01, the reports said.
The GSLV-F12 is the 15th flight of the country’s GSLV and the 9th flight with indigenous cryogenic stages.
