Kochi: Noted Malayalam actor Kaviyoor Ponnamma, 79, passed away at a hospital here on Friday, reports said.Suffering from stage 4 cancer, she was admitted to Lisie hospital on September 3. Her body will be kept at Municipal Town Hall, Kalamassery from 9 am to 12 noon on Saturday for the public to pay homage. The cremation will take place at her house in Aluva at 4 pm.Ponnamma started acting career on stage at the age of 14. She has acted in over 1000 films. She mostly portrayed the role of mother from the era of Prem Naseer, Sathyan, Madhu, Soman among others.She also worked as a playback singer in several films. She is a four-time winner of the Kerala State Film Awards.She produced the film ‘Meghatheertham’. She was married to scriptwriter late Maniswami. She is survived by her daughter Bindhu.
